The Reader Mansion House
This Heritage Open Day, The Reader are celebrating their Mansion House home with a day of live music, performances from local community groups, crafts and good food. This year, National Museums’ House of Memories On The Road is paying a special visit. This 30 metresquare mobile museum opens up into an immersive cinema and activity space and will be in front of the Mansion House all day.
Pull up a chair or lay out your picnic blanket as we share poetry and stories at our Library on the Lawn. Pick up a copy of our recently launched park map that tells the fascinating stories of the trees from around the world that you can find in Calderstones Park and our new Garden Theatre exhibition which explores its heritage and the memories of residents dating back to 1947.
The beautiful Mansion Garden will be open from 11am-5pm, and we’ll have the BBQ fired up, the bar fully stocked and delicious Cheshire Farm ice cream. Our Gardening volunteers will also be setting up shop with a plant sale running- perfect for gifts or a treat for yourself!
