BlackFest is back this September with another powerful programme celebrating Black arts, culture and creativity across Liverpool.

Running from 6 September to 30 October, the award-winning festival BlackFest will bring music, theatre, comedy, dance, visual art and more to venues right across the city.

It all kicks off with a free open-air launch event at SoundYard on Saturday 6 September, featuring live music, DJs, poetry and artisan stalls.

Other highlights include a performance workshop with Akeim Toussaint, a talk with Liverpool-born author Malik Al Nasir at Sefton Park Palm House, music from rising local star Remée at the Tung Auditorium, and a special Scratch Night at Shakespeare North showcasing new theatre talent.

BlackFest’s much-loved Comedy Showcase returns to the Royal Court Studio on 25 October, headlined by Che Burnley, and the festival wraps up with a big finale party at Invisible Wind Factory featuring live music, fashion, skating, food, and performances from artists including KingFast, Bluboy, Yilly + Friends and Katumba.

This year’s theme is masculinity, with events aiming to spark conversation, creativity and connection around identity and culture.

Founded in Liverpool, BlackFest champions under-represented voices in the arts and continues to grow each year with community at its heart.

BlackFest 2025 runs from 6 September to 30 October at venues across Liverpool.
