Everything you need to know about New Bird Street Kitchen in the Baltic Triangle
Jan Simpson and Lorraine McCulloch

New Bird Street Kitchen in the Baltic Triangle will create a new grab-and-go experience with conscious food choices coming first.

Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle is about to welcome a fresh and exciting addition to its food scene. New Bird Kitchen (NBK) is set to open its doors at 7:30am on Tuesday, 30th September, offering a thoughtfully curated grab-and-go experience where creativity, community, and conscious food choices take centre stage.

Founded by celebrity stylist Lorraine McCulloch and film & TV costume designer Jan Simpson, New Bird Street Kitchen is more than just a place to eat — it’s a project rooted in purpose. With decades spent in the creative industries, this dynamic duo is channelling their eye for detail, design, and storytelling into a food concept that’s as stylish as it is sustainable.

Located in a vibrant container kitchen on 61 New Bird Street, right in the heart of the Baltic, NBK was made possible through the backing of local cultural powerhouses Jayne Casey and Eric Gooden of District. Together, they’ve transformed the space into a welcoming, innovative hub for food lovers on the go.

What to Expect on the Menu

New Bird Street Kitchen’s offering is clean, delicious, and packed with integrity. The menu champions high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients — think organic where possible, free-range, nitrate-free, and seed-oil-free. Expect:

  • Nourishing breakfasts like overnight oats and toasted sourdough
  • Freshly made sandwiches and wholesome salads
  • Protein-packed quinoa bites, home-baked cookies, and cakes
  • Artisanal cheese and charcuterie boxes (perfect for pre-order)
  • Grab-and-go breakfast boxes for busy mornings
  • A drinks selection featuring Fairtrade Costa Rican coffee, local teas, matcha, hojicha, and kombucha

More Than a Kitchen

NBK is built on the belief that food is about more than just fuel — it’s a way to connect, to create, and to uplift communities. Through close partnerships with local farmers, makers, and producers, the team is committed to giving back to the region that inspires them.

“We believe food should nourish more than just the body,” says co-founder Lorraine McCulloch. “It should inspire. It should connect people. And it should support the place it comes from.”

With a strong emphasis on local employmentyoung talent development, and upcoming community events and collaborations, NBK aims to become a vital part of the Baltic’s cultural fabric.

Plan Your Visit

New Bird Kitchen will be open Tuesday to Friday, 7:30am – 2:30pm. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast on the run or picking up lunch with purpose, this is one spot you’ll want on your radar.
