Channel 4 announces Hollyoaks fan screening event to celebrate 30th anniversary
23 hours ago

Channel 4 has announced a very special celebration to mark 30 years of Hollyoaks, one of Britain’s most youth driven and groundbreaking soaps.
For the first time in Hollyoaks and Channel 4’s history, fans are invited to join their favourite cast members – past and present – on the red carpet for an exclusive anniversary fan screening event like no other.
This unforgettable evening, at St George’s Hall in Liverpool, will include a preview of the highly anticipated anniversary week episodes, followed by a live panel Q&A featuring beloved stars and creative talent behind the show. With special guests and many surprises, fans can expect a night filled with nostalgia, excitement, and a heartfelt celebration of three decades of bold storytelling.
From explosive storylines to powerful social issue-based plots, Hollyoaks has captivated viewers since its debut in 1995. This event is Channel 4’s way of saying thank you to the fans who have supported the show through every twist and turn.
Hollyoaks will mark the 30th anniversary milestone with a special episode that also honours its predecessor Brookside and their creator Sir Phil Redmond.
Hollyoaks took over as Channel 4’s flagship continuing drama when the Liverpool-based soap ended on November 4th 2003. It started filming on part of the former set of Brookside, where it is still shot today, originally with just nine characters.
Sir Phil Redmond is known for his gritty television dramas, also including Grange Hill, highlighting a wide range of issues in the communities they were based in, often ahead of their time.
Hollyoaks in turn took on Brookside’s ethos of addressing groundbreaking social issues but with a youth-skewed, pacier way of storytelling.
The crossover episode will see the return of iconic, heritage Brookside characters as a treat for the audience and to mark the milestone.
