Liverpool ONE is set to host it’s first ever Toy Parade this weekend when the streets will be filled with festive characters, music, and special visitors.
Created and produced by outdoor arts specialists, Walk the Plank, the parade will take over Liverpool ONE with dancing toys, glittering decorations, and shimmering lights, together with star appearances from some of the region’s most talented youngsters!
The 40-minute parade will take place at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm, and will include decorations hand-crafted by those children and young people taking part, created especially for the event.
Jennifer Hanley, a fundraiser at Claire House, said:
“As Liverpool ONE’s Charity of the Year, we are very excited to be involved in the Toy Parade. Some of the children who come to the hospice have made their own decorations and can’t wait to show them off.
“Any awareness raised, both from the event and throughout the partnership, will help us reach more local babies, children and young adults who need our support from our sites in Liverpool and Wirral.”
Claire House supports seriously and terminally ill babies, children and young adults from its Liverpool site in West Derby, Wirral hospice and in the community.
The Toy Parade marks the start of the festive programme of events at Liverpool ONE with visitors being able to enjoy a full range of activities including Festive Thursdays, a Christmas Trail, a Big Advent Giveaway and the chance to post letters to Santa.
Families can now enjoy dazzling decorations including a giant bauble, twinkling lights, and reindeer across Liverpool ONE. Christmas on the Park is now back in Chavasse Park until 31 December with Bar Hütte nestled under the 25-metre Christmas Tree in addition to children’s rides, festive games, food and treats on Chavasse Park.
Festive Thursdays are back for this festive season, featuring magical moments each week from 20 November to 18 December. Visitors can encounter enchanting walkabout characters, including giant penguins on 20 November and polar bears on 4 December.

Visitors will be able to sing their heart out at the Carol-oke evening hosted by Niall O’Callaghan on 27 November, join a festive game of pass the parcel on 11 December and be surprised by a Santa band on 18 December.
The popular Christmas Trail returns in the run up to Christmas, taking families on a quest to discover festive characters across Liverpool ONE, complete with riddles and games for youngsters to enjoy. The Letters to Santa letterbox will be installed outside ODEON to allow young children to send their wish list to Santa.
The Big Advent Giveaway also comes back this year with over £3,000 worth of prizes to be won over 12 days in December with a daily winner.
Donna Howitt, Deputy Centre Director at Liverpool ONE, said:
“We’re feeling festive here at Liverpool ONE with one of our busiest festive programmes ever. We’re anticipating a record trading period for our brands and we can’t wait to welcome visitors from the region and beyond to enjoy the festive period at the heart of the city once again.
“From returning favourites such as Bar Hütte under our giant Christmas tree, and family fun at Christmas on the Park, to exciting events including our brand-new Toy Parade supporting Claire House and even roaming polar bears, there’s truly something for everyone!
“The festive season is such a magical time of year, and we look forward to making this Christmas unforgettable for our visitors, whether they’re picking up gifts for loved ones, catching up with friends, or simply soaking up the atmosphere. Liverpool ONE is truly the place to be this Christmas!”
