Flat Iron to open new restaurant on Castle Street next summer
51 minutes ago
Castle Street’s food scene is set to grow again next summer as Flat Iron confirms it will open a new restaurant in one of Liverpool’s most historic streets.
The 100-cover spot will bring the brand’s well-known approach of serving quality steak at an affordable price right into the heart of the city.
The menu will centre on the signature flat iron steak, taken from the featherblade and known for its flavour and tenderness when expertly butchered. Guests can also expect a changing board of specials, including wagyu dishes and the green chilli cheeseburger made with beef from the Flat Iron herd in Thirsk, Yorkshire. Sides will include beef dripping chips, creamed spinach, truffled macaroni cheese and crispy bone marrow garlic mash.

The drinks list will feature a curated selection of wines, including the restaurant’s own malbec created for Flat Iron using grapes from the Limoux region in southern France. Draft beers and house cocktails will also be available.
The new site sits inside a grade II listed building that once served as the Royal Liver Assurance headquarters in the 1930s. Designed by Macaulay Sinclair, the interior will nod to the building’s history while keeping the warm, relaxed feel that Flat Iron is known for, high ceilings, natural materials and soft lighting will shape the space, with a central bar connecting the bar and dining areas.

Flat Iron’s head of beef, Fred Smith, said:
“Our mission has always been simple: to offer remarkable, carefully sourced steak at an affordable price. Liverpool has been on our wish list for a long time and we’re excited to finally bring Flat Iron to the city and join its incredible food scene.”
Flat Iron Liverpool will open in summer 2026 on Castle Street.
