Sound City is offering you the chance to kickstart your music career

Young people in Sefton are being invited by Sound City to apply for training that could lead to a career in the music industry.
Participants will receive £200. They will also have the chance of work experience at creative local music, entertainment and events companies such as Liverpool Sound City and Modern Sky UK.
Getting Your Music Out There and How to Build a Portfolio Career are among the subject covered on the course. Copyright, Royalties & Publishing, Project Management and Mental Health & Wellbeing are also topics that will be covered.
The course starts on Monday 26th January with sessions taking place on Mondays at Bootle Town Hall from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Anyone attending the course will need to be registered with Sefton@Work to be eligible.
The course has been funded through the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer and Sefton Council. Participants will work on creative briefs with guidance from the team and gain skills relevant to career in the industry career.
Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said:
“This is a really exciting chance for young people in Sefton to find out more about the music industry and could possibly be the first step to stardom.
“The training has been designed to help them build skills and confidence and to open up pathways into creative careers. It is a chance to meet a wide range of industry professionals through a series of inspiring sessions.”

“Our friendly Sefton@Work team can provide the support those young people need, whether that’s with training, education, or searching for employment.”
Applications for the free eight-week programme are now open to 18 to 24 year olds who are Sefton residents not in education, employment or training.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 22 January.
