Picante returns to Cains Brewery Village for a second season this spring
3 hours ago
Mexican-inspired cantina Picante is making its return to Cains Brewery Village this spring, launching its second season in Liverpool on Friday 13 March with new food, cocktails and a packed programme of events.
After a popular debut last year, the colourful cantina is back with its signature mix of street food, margaritas and party atmosphere. The team say 2026 will bring new additions including bottomless brunch, Bottomless Wing Wednesday, 20 percent off back bar drinks every Thursday and daily happy hour after 8pm.
Daytime terrace parties will also run throughout the summer, alongside in-house and guest events, and the venue will screen World Cup matches in June and July.
The updated drinks menu features new cocktails including the Hot Honey Daisy, Churros Old Fashioned, Baja Blast and Mexican Wave, alongside Mini Dirti Margatinis and bottomless Micheladas and Bloody Marias during brunch.
New kitchen additions include coconut shrimp tacos, vegan birria tacos, crispy chicharrone, jalapeño poppers and a Mc-apple pie quesadilla for dessert, alongside Picante’s range of tequilas, cocktails and Mexican beers.

Picante’s Margarita Masterclasses are returning, hosted by Cocktail Kate, with 90-minute Saturday sessions where guests learn about the history of margaritas while making three of their own, alongside tequila tasting and quesadillas.
A monthly Tequila Tasting Friday will also give visitors the chance to sample Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequilas and learn about the production process.
The venue is run by a collective of independent hospitality figures including Joe Wild of Taco or Don’t, Kate Meehan of Paloma Café and Sally Jo Whitlow and Danny Murphy of Jenny’s Bar. Danny Murphy said the team were overwhelmed by the response to Picante’s first season and are returning with bigger plans, new menus and more events for spring and summer.
Following its launch weekend, Picante will be open Wednesday to Sunday until the end of September.

Margarita Masterclasses run every Saturday from March to October between 2pm and 3.30pm and 4pm and 5.30pm. Tickets are £45 per person and include four margaritas, a tequila taster and quesadillas.
Tequila Tasting Fridays take place once a month, with guests able to arrive between 6pm and 8.30pm for a 30-minute session. Tickets are £20 for two people and include a margarita on arrival and three tequila tastings.
Picante is located at Cains Brewery Village on Stanhope Street and opens Wednesday to Friday from 2pm to 11pm, and Saturday and Sunday from midday to 11pm.
