Bebe’s Hive CIC has launched the countdown to World Bee Day 2026 honouring Bebe King

Bebe’s Hive CIC is inviting the community to once again come together in colour, kindness, and remembrance for World Bee Day 2026 in memory of Bebe King.

In 2025, Bebe’s mum, Lauren King, shared a message on Instagram asking if anyone might wear a pop of yellow on 20th May, to mark World Bee Day and remember Bebe. What followed was something no one could have predicted.

Schools and nurseries encouraged children to add pops of yellow to their uniforms. The Atkinson in Southport glowed yellow into the evening. Churchtown Village was adorned with bows, tied carefully and thoughtfully throughout its streets. Across the town, people shared images of bees, flowers, and moments of reflection; each one a tribute, each one a reminder of the deep care within this community.

Southport has always shown that when it comes together, it does so with quiet strength and extraordinary generosity.

On Wednesday 20th May 2026, Stand Up For Southport and Bebe’s Hive CIC say they are inviting everyone – schools, businesses, families, and individuals – to wear yellow for World Bee Day

A simple act, but one that carries meaning: celebrating the life of Bebe King, while shining a light on the importance of protecting bees and the natural world around us.

People are encouraged to participate on World Bee Day by sharing pictures on social media using the hashtag #worldbeeday

To mark this year’s campaign, a special ‘Celebrate Bebe’ t-shirt has been created in collaboration with Westcoast Workwear. The shirts are available now via the online merchandise portal, offering a simple way for the community to take part and show support.

A pop-up shop will also be held at Wayfarer’s Arcade on Lord Street in Southport on Saturday 25th April 2026, from 10am to 3pm, where visitors can purchase their t-shirts in person ahead of World Bee Day.

Adult shirts will be priced at £10, and children shirts at £8. A selection of much-loved accessories will also be available, alongside some new additions.

More than anything, this day is about people. It is about a town that shows up for one another. It is about remembering a little girl who brought joy, and ensuring that joy continues to ripple outward in small, meaningful ways.
