Wavertree Town Hall reopens under new ownership

Wavertree Town Hall in Liverpool has been a local landmark for over 150 years and the site will re-opens its doors on 17th April, under new ownership.

The restaurant, bar and function space closed its doors six months ago in October 2025, under the previous management and thankfully one of Liverpool’s most experienced leisure group operators have invested in the site and brought it back to life.

Wavertree Town Hall is a municipal building in the High Street of Wavertree, in South Liverpool. The structure, which was once the offices of Wavertree local board of health, is a Grade II listed building.

The building was designed by the local architect, John Elliot Reeve, in the neoclassical style, built in stone with a stucco finish and was completed in 1872. The external appearance of this beautiful listed building looks very regal with all the grand charm and class of a Town Hall. Internally the original features have all been kept.

The site is still split across 3 areas. Firstly the front of the Town Hall is now  a very cosy and traditional pub serving locally sourced hearty foods such as steak and ale pie and scouse. There are  no TV’s in here and it  contains an open fire. This is complimented by the larger back bar which will show all major live sporting events and features 2 dart boards. Sundays will be a key day at the Town Hall with Sunday Lunch served across both of the ground floor spaces.

Lastly the upstairs space, which is Function Lounge. This is the largest of the 3 areas with a total capacity of around 100 and will be a perfect location for private parties,  christenings, presentations and so on.

Nicola Halton, Business Development Manager for the Harrison Group said:

We have truly enjoyed bringing this fantastic building back to life over the last few months. Wavertree Town Hall is a stunning landmark and being given the chance to serve as its custodians is a real privilege. Sitting right in the heart of Wavertree, this Grade II listed Victorian building is being restored for the local community – a project our entire team is incredibly proud of. We believe we’ve created something special with the new look Town Hall and hope our customers feel the same.”

The site has also created around 20 new full and part-time jobs in the Liverpool hospitality sector.

The venue also features some artwork from well known local street artist Paul Curtis. Paul has created a mural of George Harrison at the site, with Wavertree being the birthplace of the famous Beatle. The mural includes George, his home, the Picton Clock and the Wavertree Town Hall.
