There really is something for everyone happening at Speke Hall as we approach summer, from live music & family fun to open-air theatre & Pokémon trails.
Kicking things off, May Day celebrations are returning to Speke Hall with three days full of medieval merriment, music and fun for the whole family.
The historic hall and gardens will provide a beautiful backdrop for a packed programme of activities for all ages to get creative, enjoy live entertainment and make fabulous memories.
Across the weekend, the North Lawn will host a step back in time with an immersive reenactment by House of the Black Star, and visitors can get hands-on flower crown making with RHS Chelsea Gold winners Louise and Deb Floral Design.
Performances include Mersey Morris on Saturday and Galliard Folk Dancers on Sunday and there’s a chance to take aim and try your hand at archery with White Dragon Archery sessions.
This weekend is just the start of a busy few months for Speke Hall, which has events for everyone right through spring and summer – including an unmissable one for all Pokémon fans new and old!

As a highlight of its Summer of Play, Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Trail comes to Speke Hall.
Unleash your energy on a Pokémon adventure this May half-term, celebrating the Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Series.
From 23 May, get active outdoors on the Pokémon Trading Card Game Mega Evolution Trail. Team up as a family to search the gardens for each Mega Evolution Pokémon, discover their powers, and complete your own challenges.
Are you ready for a mega adventure? Trail sheets will be available to collect on the day. Normal admission also applies (free for National Trust members).

This May half-term will also see a celebration of the Festival of Blossom at Speke Hall with a self-led poetry trail. Discover five stops along the way, where you can listen to recorded poetry and music by Simon Armitage and LYR, all inspired by the landscape around you.
For a super-cute half-term challenge all the family can do together, step inside the hall and follow a self-led Indoor Mouse Trail through seven stops around the mansion.
Pick up a trail sheet then keep a look out for tiny mice, hidden in unexpected places and celebrating blossom alongside the folklore of spring. Complete the trail, and you can collect your sticker!
If you prefer to relax surrounded by nature, try blossom bathing – pull up a deckchair and take a moment to totally switch off among the apple blossom and blossom-inspired artwork.

Or, for lovers of theatre, enjoy open-air performances on the North Lawn as outdoor theatre returns in June and July:
- June 19 – King Arthur and the Holy Fail, an epic tale of Arthurian adventure and medieval mayhem
- July 1 – Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of the Baskervilles, a comic adaptation by Pantaloons Theatre Company
- July 17 – The (Almost) Complete History of Britain, Pantaloons’ hilarious race through the centuries
- August 16 – Twelfth Night, a family-friendly audience participation version of Shakespeare’s classic
Just bring a camping chair, a blanket, and your favourite snacks – then sit back and be entertained as the sun sets!
The National Trust is an independent conservation charity founded in 1895 to preserve historic and natural places in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and open them up for everyone to enjoy. 131 years later and that mission is still at the heart of what we do.
Over the next decade, the cause will be delivered through the People & Nature Thriving strategy. They have three ambitious goals: to restore nature – not just on National Trust land, but everywhere; to end unequal access to nature, beauty and history; and to inspire millions more people to care and take action.
With the National Trust’s 5.3m members, 40,000 volunteers, supporters, partners and communities, they collectively represent a cause that’s bigger than just themselves: it’s about caring for nature and heritage everywhere, for everyone, for ever.
