Clatterbridge launches major fundraising appeal to transform Halton Unit
1 hour ago
Major fundraising appeal is being launched by Clatterbridge Cancer Charity to raise £250,000 to completely transform and upgrade Halton Unit.
The refurbishment will create more space for patients and ensure the environment is fit for the future and matches the outstanding care delivered by its dedicated staff.
The appeal will officially launch on Wednesday at a special event held at the unit, bringing together patients, staff, supporters and local figures.
The Halton SACT (systemic anti-cancer therapies) unit delivers chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other targeted treatments. It is run and staffed by The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
The planned refurbishment will:
- Increase patient capacity to meet growing demand
- Provide comfortable treatment chairs and flexible bays, allowing patients to either chat with others or enjoy greater privacy during treatment
- Ensure patients at Halton benefit from superb facilities and a bright, modern treatment environment for many years to come
With demand for cancer services continuing to rise, the appeal aims to fund the refurbishment by October 2026.
At the launch event, guests will hear first-hand from patients and staff about the importance of the facility and the difference the refurbishment will make.
Plans for the redevelopment will be unveiled, including artist impressions showing how it will look once complete.
The event will also be attended by representatives from Warrington Wolves rugby league club, alongside the Mayor of Halton, Councillor Martha Lloyd Jones, highlighting the strong community support behind the campaign.
