LFC Foundation backs Anfield community groups with £140k in grants

The LFC Foundation has announced that it has awarded £140,000 in grants to 20 different organisations across Anfield through the Red Neighbours Community Fund.
Established by the LFC Foundation and backed by Liverpool Football Club, the fund was launched in 2020 to aid local groups with innovative ideas for sustainable projects in the neighbourhoods surrounding Anfield. The initiative stems from a commitment by LFC to contribute to a community grant fund for every concert or major non-football event held at the stadium, ensuring revenues are reinvested directly into the local area.
The fund targets charities and not-for-profit community groups whose activities align with the Foundation’s core charitable pillars of health, learning, and employment. The inaugural grants were distributed in 2022, funding projects such as a new cinema for young families and developments for a local bowling club.
This year, a portion of the funding will address food insecurity. Recipient Christ Church PPC, situated in one of the 10 most deprived parishes in England, will utilise the funds for this cause alongside The Community Basket CIC, which will provide affordable essentials via its community-led food shop in Anfield.
Other initiatives receiving support include Rage Performing Arts CIC, which is launching a 12-week performing arts programme to offer a safe, supportive environment for young females, LGBTQ+ youth aged 11–18, and individuals up to age 25 with SEND needs. Reel in the Community will deliver community fishing sessions led by a qualified wellbeing angling coach to support people of all backgrounds dealing with mental health challenges, while Liverpool Community Radio will utilise local broadcasting, media training, and inclusive hospitality to tackle social isolation.
Additionally, SS Development Academy CIC will run “Goals Beyond the Games,” a free football and mentoring programme designed to give young people a safe, consistent environment to play and connect. Finally, Vauxhall Law and Community Information Centre will provide free, trusted legal counsel and advocacy to assist individuals facing debt, housing, and welfare difficulties in regaining stability, dignity, and confidence.
Matt Parish, CEO of LFC Foundation, said:
“As a charity our primary aim is to fundraise directly to support our own participants, however it’s also vital we support neighbouring community initiatives and partners through our Red Neighbours programme and specifically our Red Neighbours community fund.
“Working in partnership is crucial to long-term success and there are some unbelievable organisations in and around the Anfield area and beyond who do some life-changing work that aligns with our own mission, and I am thrilled we are able to play a small part in making a further difference in our community.”
