Christmas in Liverpool would not be Christmas without the always hilarious Royal Court Christmas show and this year’s sounds like one of the funniest they have ever staged with our very own Lindzi Germain once again in the cast and fronting our backstage video above.
The gang are taking on a classic Christmas pantomime and revamping it for the grown-ups!
The actors are in rehearsals, stage management are making ridiculous props and the script is (nearly) finished. The box office ’phones are buzzing so it looks like a case of book now or miss out!
The cast has been confirmed and is full of familiar faces. Paul Duckworth, Michael Fletcher, Stephen Fletcher, Lindzi Germain, Andrew Schofield, Hayley Sheen and Keddy Sutton all return to The Court after starring in last year’s smash hit The Scouse Nativity.
Kevin Fearon returns as writer, the Musical Director is Howard Gray and the spectacular set is being Designed by Foxton.
Poor old Cinders has lost everything. Her Mum has gone, her dad, Baron Joe Hardupson, is being a berk and if that wasn’t bad enough she keeps setting things on fire. Lil Redrowding is making a move on her dad and she’s a proper golddigger. There’s only one thing for it. She’ll go and see one of the Prince’s massive balls, pretend to be something she isn’t and get so drunk she loses a shoe.
This show is packed with gags and great live music! We’ve got a biff called Buttons, a Prince with a foot fetish and a pumpkin that turns into a Delta. There will be minging sisters, a lairy fairy and probably some dwarves who’ve got lost.
Kevin Fearon, Executive Producer at Liverpool’s Royal Court and writer of the show: “The Royal Court Christmas show has got a great reputation for being, funny, silly and packed with good music. Last year’s show was our most successful ever and this already looks set to break that record. We have got a brilliant cast and crew working on this one so we’re hoping that everyone enjoys it. Tickets have been flying out for this one so people need to book soon!”
The show contains some strong language and the recommended age limit is 16+.
The Scouse Cinderella runs from Friday 23 November 2018 until Saturday 19 January 2019. Tickets and information are available from www.royalcourtliverpool.com or on 0151 709 4321
