Get your cheer squad together and get ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll…
The Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon event takes place on 19th-20th May 2018 and encompasses the entire city with a running route that is not just challenging but also breath-taking. Beginning at our world class waterfront and passing both football stadiums, the historic Georgian Quarter and acre upon acre of parkland, the marathon, half marathon, 5k and 1 mile courses offer runners a tour of our amazing city, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Co-ordinator, Jo Moody wants your help to bring the party atmosphere to life.
An accomplished marathon runner and a medal holder of all 4 Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool events, Jo wants the 2018 race series to be the most fun yet and believes our local community groups are the key. Watch above as Jo chats with our Jay about how you can get involved.Ā
Volunteers are needed to help with aspects of the event including marshalling and manning water stations and you can also join a number of local Brownies, Cadets and performing arts groups with your own cheer band. Jo explained:” We want to give back to the local community for their help in making this year’s Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon event the biggest and best yet, and so our community fund is available to support any groups wanting to line the route in their local area to cheer our runners on to the finish line.
“This can pay towards things such as poster making materials and lunches for groups spending their day supporting the event.Ā The last four miles of the marathon and half marathon are really gruelling and so anyone willing to bring a bit of cheer and entertainment to Otterspool Prom and along the waterfront stretch in particular, would be a real bonus for the runners.”
