International Women’s Day is a globally recognised occasion that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
This year, International Women’s Day will be celebrated on Friday 8 March and, as Liverpool is full of strong, fabulous women, it’s no surprise there are some boss ways to celebrate.

Female owned market at GPO
Join GPO on 9 February, between 12pm – 4pm, for a celebration of female empowerment and creativity where local female makers will showcase their amazing craft. This is the perfect opportunity for any last minute International Women’s Day & Mother’s Day gifts!
There will also be live music from local singer Dani Pedro from 1pm – 4pm.

Wonder Woman cocktail at Gaucho

Gaucho has teamed up with Liverpool Woman’s Hospital and for the whole of March will be selling the Wonder Woman cocktail with all proceeds of every sale being passed on to the Liverpool Woman’s Hospital.
Purchases of this delicious cocktail will help Liverpool Women’s Hospital to enhance care and comfort of patients, it will help to push the boundaries of medical knowledge and ensure that Liverpool’s Women’s Hospital remains a beacon of excellence.
Helping to create serene and soothing hospital environments, advancing groundbreaking research in women’s health, and acquire new state-of-the-art equipment.

Madre teams up with Eat Like A Local
To support Eat Like A Local, and their social program, Madre has joined forces by adding a ÂŁ1 donation to bills when serving tap water throughout March.
Working with females in the Mexico, Eat Like A Local utilises funds raised from their tours to provide education on various topics including English language skills, sexual education, feminism, and financial independence. The goal is to broaden their horizons and empower them to create a better future for themselves.
These donations will be collated and sent to Rocio and the team with the specific aim of helping one female in particular who is currently trying to save money to study outside of Mexico due to the mafia becoming increasingly violent in her market.

International Women’s Day at John Lewis
John Lewis will be hosting International Women’s Day Celebrations throughout their store in Liverpool ONE.
On the ground floor there will be food & drinks tasting from female founded brands between 12pm and 4pm. On the first floor there will be Complementary Drinks and a DJ set from Gemma Cairney. There will also Complementary Treatments from a number of beauty brands. Finally on the third floor there will also be celebratory colouring at The Place to Eat.

International Women’s Day Panel at University of Liverpool
This event aims to celebrate the achievements of women and allies, through a series of panel discussions. University of Liverpool have organised a 2-part panel series, featuring speakers from diverse backgrounds, including businesses, entrepreneurs and alumni.
The event provides a platform for insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and a chance to showcase organisations and employers to the student community at the University of Liverpool.
In addition to the discussions, there will be stands from employers exhibiting, during, and after the event. All students, staff and employers are invited to participate, gain valuable insights, expand their networks, and find inspiration in the stories of successful women and allies who are making a meaningful impact.

In Conversation – The Women behind The Beatles at The Beatles Story
Celebrate the unsung heroines of The Beatles’ journey at “In Conversation: The Women behind the Beatles” on March 8 at The Fab 4 Cafe.
It promises to be an intimate exploration of their stories, experiences, and a chance for you to engage with these incredible women.
Hosted by In Demand Radio’s Claire Simmo it will feature talks from Freda Kelly, Julia Baird, Beryl Marsden, and Bernadette Byrne.

Ride Voi e-scooters for FREE
E-scooter company Voi is celebrating International Women’s Day by offering free rides to women to encourage them to use e-scooters.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, on 8 March, the company is offering new women riders 15 minutes of free riding on Voi e-scooters or e-bikes from 4 March to 4 April, using the code WOMEN. Videos featuring women riders will be published on the company’s UK social media channels through the week from 4 March.
