8 peaceful places perfect for some headspace in Liverpool City Centre

Let’s be honest we could all do with some headspace right now and if you are back working in Liverpool City Centre there’s plenty of space for you to unwind and take your mind off the madness for 30 minutes.

As Liverpool City Centre slowly returns to some sort of normality and the hustle and bustle start to come back we thought we would give you a few places that are guaranteed to give you the headspace we are sure you deserve right now.

Here’s 8 places you can switch off and recharge yourself in Liverpool City Centre…..

1 – St Nick’s Churchyard

If there’s a place in the city that has offered sanctuary, reflection and a stunning view in which to lose your thoughts, it’s St Nick’s Churchyard. Overlooking the Three Graces and River Mersey, St Nick’s is littered with beautiful tributes that give us all reason to pause and breathe.

2 – Central Library

Liverpool’s incredible Central Library has always been a hive of activity, it has been closed for the past few months but the stunning building is now back open. Central Library is open weekdays 10am-3pm and social distancing measures are in place, so please be mindful of others using the beautiful space, which again is guaranteed to give you that time out you need.

3 – Chavasse Park

The huge grassy park at Liverpool ONE offers plenty of space to stick a blanket down or even just your jacket and lay down for a bit of cloud watching, and the team at Liverpool ONE have put social distancing spaces on to the park for you to stay safe. Head towards John Lewis and pick a spot in the sun for a coffee or lunch break away on those big beautiful steps.

4 – St John’s Gardens

St John’s Gardens is in bloom all year round. Just 5 – 10 minutes on a bench here, time to kickback with a book, newspaper, podcast or just your thoughts, can be enough to put a spring back in your step.

5 – Pier Head

Blow the cobwebs away with a wander along the Pier Head. Looking out across the River Mersey – just like a Liver Bird, wind in your hair and that big expanse of sea and sky could put some wind back in your sails for an afternoon back at the office.

6 – St James’ Gardens

Liverpool Anglican Cathedral has reopened its doors to everyone in search of peace. Its surrounding gardens are equally inviting and calming. With dotted benches and green spaces to pitch up with your lunch or a book, this 10 minute walk from the city centre is well worth it for the peace and quiet.

7 – The Bombed Out Church

The steps at the Bombed Out Church, Berry Street has long been a meeting place and unofficial taxi rank on nights out. During the day its a great place to elevate yourself from the hustle and bustle of the street and watch the world go by. Or nab a space on the grass and forget you’re even in the city. The new Garden Bar is open now.

8 – Metropolitan Cathedral

Sticking with steps but adding a little more height, head to the Georgian Quarter and the steps of Paddy’s Wigwam to look down the length of Hope St. On a sunny day you can feel like king of the world sitting up high watching students, tourists and workers hurrying about their day while you take 5.
