A Christmas Carol set for St George’s Hall this December
31 minutes ago

Liverpool audiences are in for a festive treat as Ginificent Theatre Company bring their acclaimed production of A Christmas Carol to the Great Hall at St George’s Hall this December.
Running from 12–24 December 2025, the haunting retelling of Dickens’ classic will be performed in the grandeur of the Great Hall for the very first time, after eight years of sell-out runs in the Concert Room. This year also marks Ginificent’s 23rd consecutive year performing the story, delivered in their signature authentic style that stays true to Dickens’ original language.
A cast of 14 performers and four live musicians will create a chilling, cinematic soundscape that brings Victorian London’s most famous ghost story vividly to life. With an in-the-round set-up and atmospheric effects, audiences can expect supernatural surprises, eerie encounters and a darker take on the festive tale.

Director and producer Liam Scott said:
“We’re thrilled to be working in the breathtaking Great Hall this year. The space allows us to create something truly special — we have lots of new changes planned and we can’t wait to share them with our audience.”
Ken McConnell will play Ebenezer Scrooge in what promises to be a powerful performance, while Scott will guide the audience as narrator, taking them chapter by chapter through the story’s ghostly twists and moral lessons.

Audiences have long praised Ginificent’s production as a Christmas highlight in Liverpool, with past attendees calling it “magical”, “a wonderful way to begin the festivities” and “an experience Christmas wouldn’t be the same without.”
A Christmas Carol will run at St George’s Hall from 12–24 December 2025, with tickets from £27 via Eventbrite. Early booking is advised as another sell-out run is expected.
