A Texan themed Golden Retriever Café is coming to Liverpool this weekend

Grab your stetsons and hold ‘em because there’s a Texas themed Golden Retriever Café coming to Liverpool this weekend!

Sub Rosa in the Baltic is saddling up to host a glam country and western-style event for fans and their furry pals. With a Nashville soundtrack, featuring Taylor Swift, queen of country Dolly Parton and Cowboy Carter Beyonce of course, it’s set to be toe-tapping, tail wagging fun this Sunday.

And, because it’s really all about the doggos, there’ll be plenty of balls, toys and bubbles, Texan-themed dog biscuits and treats from the Doggy Barkery and a Pupuccino Bar where they (probably you) can order a Pup Cup topped with fresh blueberries, peanut butter sprinkles or gravy bones from the barman!

The idea for the Golden Retriever Cafe came from Pop + Bark, who specialise in hosting breed-specific canine experiences and socials including dog discos and cafes.

Pop + Bark was launched by James Morgan and Anushka Fernando who started out creating an indoor pug meet-up for their own pug Bertie so he could meet and play with other dogs.

They opened their first Pug Café in Guildford and as the concept grew, the couple started travelling across the country creating events for different breeds.

They boosted their business when they appeared on BBC’s Dragons Den in January last year, getting an enthusiastic response from the Dragons especially Touker Suleyman and Steven Bartlett.

Since then they’ve carried on growing Pop + Bark and now they’re going full Cowboy Carter with their first ever Texas-inspired tour.

Sub Rosa will be all decked out for a paw-some day this Sunday with lots of photo opps, backdrops and doggy sofas because even Golden Retriever energy doesn’t need to calm down occasionally!

And dress-up is encouraged, obviously, for owners and dogs so if you’ve got a Stetson or two left over from the Eras tour, or a cute Western-style bandana, now’s the time to dig it out and get it on.

Organisers say the event isn’t exclusively for Golden Retriever owners, all dog lovers are welcome to come along and join in the fun of being outdoors with a whole crowd of bouncy joy-spreaders. Sub Rosa will also have fries, snacks, beers cocktails for the adults.

Two 80-minute Golden Retriever Café sessions have already sold out for Sunday afternoon, but there’s a waiting list so if you didn’t manage to get one there’s still a chance.
