Alder Hey kicks off Christmas with virtual light switch-on this Thursday 25th November

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is holding its annual Christmas light switch-on virtually this Thursday 25th November at 4pm.

You can watch the broadcast by going to Alder Hey’s special Christmas Hub website here.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, public gatherings are currently on hold in the hospital but Alder Hey are still hoping to bring the magic to children and young people, their families and staff with this annual Christmas event.

The broadcast has been produced by the team here at The Guide Liverpool and will be hosted by Jay Hynd and Gemma Cutting.

It will feature performances by classical musicians Georgina and Elfair, Alder Hey’s staff choir in conjunction with Chorus UK, St Paul and St Timothy’s Infant school and a special rendition of ‘All I want for Christmas’ by Alder Hey Friends and Families.

We also get to hear the inspirational story of charity ambassador and patient, 4 year old Betty, who was born at just 650 grams at four months premature. Her life was saved by Alder Hey and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and she has since gone on to feature in the recent Matalan PJ campaign.

The lights will be switched-on virtually by Alder Hey friends and family and will officially mark the start of Christmas at Alder Hey.

Many children and young people’s treatment does not stop over the festive period and traditionally Alder Hey Children’s Hospital with support from generous donations to Alder Hey Children’s Charity is thankfully still able to bring some festive cheer to those visiting or staying at the hospital over Christmas with decorations, gifts, music therapists and entertainment.

You can access the free event  at 4pm on Thursday 25th November on the website HERE.
