We’ve all been there, you‘ve turned over a new leaf, decided to get healthy and actually walk into the gym rather than just pay the membership every month but where do you start? What exercise should you be doing? What food should you be eating? And how do you stay motivated when you’re hungry, on the edge, and want to inhale most of McDonalds?
This is exactly what new podcast
A Girl And A Gay In the Gym is for. Hosted by two of Liverpool’s leading personal trainers
Hattie Jeffries (The Gym Bird) and
Richie Swan, this is straight talking, no nonsense health, fitness and dieting advice for the real world with a massive dollop of Scouse humour thrown in for good measure. Be warned though, if you’re easily offended this isn’t for you!
If you’re into fitness you’ve probably at least heard of The Gym Bird and Richie. Between teaching spin at Rise Cycling, various classes and personal training, they’re both in demand and very successful at what they do. With over 17 years experience between them, numerous fitness qualifications, and Richie’s Fitness Instructor of the Year Award at the Fitness Professional Awards they really know their stuff.
The podcast covers everything you need to know with episodes such as ‘Where Are My Abs?’ ‘Does Sex Count As Cardio?’ and the latest episode featuring Strictly Winner and Richie’s friend Alexandra Burke. She’s talking about what food plan works for her, what exercise she does, how she stays motivated to do it while she’s on the road touring with The Bodyguard, and what her turning point was after gaining 3 dress sizes.
Hattie and Richie answer your questions at the end of every episode so it’s like having a free personal trainer on hand to ask anything you want to help stay on the right track. You can get in touch @girlgaygym on

There’s a brand new episode out every Sunday lunchtime so give it a listen and start your week off in the right frame of mind. If you subscribe on iTunes it will download automatically to your phone!
