Valentine’s Day in Liverpool is going to be amazing. The day of all things heart-shaped falls on a Thursday night so why not kick start a weekend with the one, or ones you love with an alternative celebration. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the traditional romantic meal for two, champagne and footsy under the table, we have to acknowledge that us single pringles want in on the party too.

Luckily the city bars and clubs are well up for celebrating our alternative love this Valentine’s Day with a whole load of themed events. From galentine’s discos to movie nights and thoroughly modern ways to express your love…

This is how to do ‘Alternative Valentine’s Day’ in Liverpool…….

1 – ASBO Cinema, Grease

2 – Single’s Speed Dating Party

Guys and girls come out to play at this alternative Valentine’s Day event! If you’re looking for love or a damn good giggle, book your place at the Fast Love Single’s Party at Hilton Hotel Liverpool on 13th Feb. Info here. 

3 – Dirty Dancing 30th Anniversary

Why not mix up snogging at the cinema with one of the greatest modern love stories ever told? The kick ass soundtrack, the holiday romance, er…Patrick Swayze! FACT is showing Dirty Dancing, buy your tickets here. 

4 – Valentine’s Punk Tea

Baltic Social has put a lurvely spin on its amazing Punk Afternoon Tea especially for Valentine’s Day in Liverpool. Tuck into totally tiered treats while a ‘pretty boss’ jazz band supply the soundtrack! More info and booking here. 

5 – Wild Thing

Now when we said ‘alternative’ valentine’s day events, Make, North Docks has knocked the nail on the head. Find true love using your dance moves with a 70’s-til now banging soundtrack and a full on disco! More info here. 

6 – Galentine’s Day Disco

Camp & Furnace is offering up a double whammy on Valentine’s Day in Liverpool. There’s a Galentine’s Disco especially for the ladies, stuffed with girl power, anthems and a shit load of sweet female attitude! Tickets here. 

7 – Till Death Do Us Part

The Everyman Theatre loves a bit of quirkiness and this Valentine’s Day you can spend the evening at a wedding, trying to work out why someone ended up dead in a Murder Mystery. Just make sure it’s not you! Tickets and info here.

8 – Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Classic outdoor films at The Bombed Out Church gets a little cheeky twist for Valentine’s Day with two film screenings in this beautiful venue. First us is Breakfast at Tiffany’s followed by The Bride of Frankenstein. Book here. 

9 – Queen Night

24 Kitchen Street channels its inner Freddie on Valentine’s Day with a night dedicated to Queen. Expect all the sing along anthems, from Break Free to Bohemian Rhapsody and Kind of Magic. Celebrate your Queen with tickets, here.

OMG Liverpool is mixing things up with a lock and key party on Valentine’s Day. The premise is simple, collect a lock/key, go flirt your little ass off, find out match and boosh, happily ever after! Info here.

14 – The Notebook, Liberty Tavern

Galentine’s cinema comes to Liberty Tavern, Woolton Village on 14th Feb as the utterly gorgeous film ‘The Notebook’ is screened in the private cabin. There’s cocktails, popcorn and mid-film snacks on offer too. Tickets here.
