Almost £2,000 raised for North West Cancer Research at Southport Afternoon Tea Event
1 year ago

A group of fundraisers from Southport recently hosted an afternoon tea and raised almost £2,000 for North West Cancer Research.
North West Cancer Research is an independent charity dedicated to putting the region’s cancer needs first by funding life-saving research and education to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.
Over 190 ladies attended the popular event, which was held at Hillside Golf Club, Southport.
After enjoying their afternoon tea, the ladies enjoyed a performance by local musician, Jenny Wren, who made sure that everyone took to the dance floor to join in with her performance.
Chair of the Committee, Olive Cutts, said:
“We’re proud to be a thriving committee, dedicated to raising vital funds for research into all forms of cancer here in the North West.”
“It was brilliant to see so many people come together at the event and being able to enjoy these types of events that we love so much, as well as raise a lot of money for such a good cause.
“It’s great to finally be getting back to normal after the pandemic. We’re looking forward to hosting a mince pie and coffee morning near Christmas time, which will include several stalls selling homemade cakes and lots more”.
Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research said:
“It’s absolutely fantastic to see the community doing their bit for cancer research. The event looked like everyone had a great time raising money and it is really nice that communities are able to connect like this again.
“We’re so grateful to the Southport Fundraising Committee for their ongoing support, and everyone that attended the afternoon or donated money. What a success!”
