As Liverpool ‘One to Watch’ Eleanor Nelly signs a deal with Decca Records, we look back on her journey so far
6 years ago

We’re proud as punch to hear the news that ‘One To Watch’ Liverpool songbird, Eleanor Nelly has just signed a record management deal with Decca Records.
Having gigged around Liverpool since she was 13, Eleanor has a natural work ethic that would put the worlds biggest rock stars to shame. With her trademark brunette quiff and winged eyeliner, the acoustic singer songwriter was always destined for big things as her ability to pen original tracks bursting with emotion, saw her pick up gongs such as the LIMF ‘One to Watch 2015’ and ‘Most Ready Act’ in 2016. She has been championed by not only us here at The Guide Liverpool but also by local music platform Get Into This, Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monks and Bido Lito!
Eleanor will be joining a stellar line-up of artists at Decca Records including Xam Volo, The Lumineers and Aurora to name a few, and we’ve no doubt she’s going to make waves with her stunning raspy voice belting out those spine-tingling lyrics.
We caught up with Eleanor for a quick chat and she was absolutely full of smiles. She said: “I’m just absolutely made up, signing the record and management deal means I can basically do music full time and the team at Decca will help me to develop and grow as an artist.
“I’ve learned so much from local bands and really just getting involved as much as possible with gigs and festivals where I could watch and learn from them. The second time I played LIMF on the main stage, backed by the Philharmonic orchestra was one of my favourite gigs because it was like stepping into another world.
Eleanor is a huge fan of Liverpool band, The Hummingbirds and has some advice for young local acts like herself wanting to break into the music business.
She said: “Don’t be afraid to be different, you know, just get out there, be fierce and watch and learn what the other bands and acts are doing.
“I’m sure I used to do everyone’s head’s in, hanging around, playing guitar badly and singing out of tune, but it’s all good experience and I’m lucky to call a lot of those acts I looked up to, good friends now.”
Eleanor has caught up with our Jay regularly throughout her early career and we’ve dug back into our archives to bring you a snapshot of her rise to fame.
