Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon supports Claire House in annual Butterfly Bake

Claire House Children’s Hospice is once again calling on the community to get involved in its much-anticipated annual Butterfly Bake.
This March, Claire House is inviting supporters to grab their aprons, fire up their ovens, and join in the fun of the Butterfly Bake to raise funds for its vital services.
Whether you’re an experienced baker or a novice, everyone can take part in this sweet fundraising event that combines the joy of baking with the spirit of giving.
The Butterfly Bake has become a key event for the charity, which provides support for seriously and terminally ill children, babies, and young adults across Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Wales.
The money raised will help fund the crucial bereavement care services offered at Claire House, particularly in the two Butterfly Suites and in-home care provided to families during their most challenging times.
This year, Claire House is receiving support from a number of well-known faces, including Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon.
Liz is lending her voice to the campaign, encouraging people to get baking and show their support for a charity that touches the hearts of many across the region.
In a post on Instagram, Liz said:
“I’m getting ready for Butterfly Bake. Now listen, I am a good cook, but I’m not sure I’m a very good baker.
“But that doesn’t matter! Because we all just need to take part in Butterfly Bake… So I hope you are too.”
Getting involved in the Butterfly Bake is easy! Whether you’re baking a batch of cookies, cupcakes, or a full cake, or organising a bake sale in your local community, your efforts will help ensure that Claire House can continue its vital work in helping families, just like Jo and John Paul Mercer and their girls Niamh, nine, and Freya, one.

Jo and JP said:
“As parents, we know how important it is to have Claire House – they were there for us every step when we lost our babies, Ella and Libby.
“Claire House kept our family safe during a vulnerable time when we lost Ella in 2020. And the hospice’s Butterfly Team was there for a second time when things didn’t go right with Libby in 2022.
“They also helped us to support our eldest daughter Niamh, who was waiting for these little babies to arrive. And we have treasured memories together because of Claire House – something we can now share with our rainbow baby, Freya.”
Cora Shafto, Community Engagement Manager at Claire House, said:
“Our Butterfly Bake 2024 was a huge success, and we’re excited to build on that momentum!
“We’re hoping as many people as possible join us this year to raise vital funds and awareness of the bereavement care at Claire House.
“Anyone can take part, no matter how much baking experience they have. And by getting involved, they can make sure we can be there for more babies, children and young adults, and their families, when they need us most.
“Let’s make this year’s Butterfly Bake even sweeter!”
