Awake self development centre are hosting a free digital detox day out

Awake – the new self-development centre opening in Old Swan this month – is hosting its first totally free digital detox day out.

The digital detox day out are designed to encourage families and friends to disconnect from the distraction of mobile phones, iPads and other devices, and reconnect with each other and nature.

Those taking part in the digital detox day out must simply register their interest by emailing awakeliverpool@gmail.com with their name, telephone number and the number of friends/family members that want to take part.

They’ll then need to arrive at Awake HQ – Unit 8, Prescot Road Business Park, L13 3AS at 8.10am on Sunday 15th March (Arrivals no later than 8.10am, leaving at 8.30am and returning to the same location at 6pm), before heading off on a totally free of charge adventure.

Awake is planning to host regular digital detox days out, where people getting involved can reconnect with their friends and family and build stronger relationships, not to mention meet other people on a similar journey.

They’ll have no idea where they’ll be exploring until they arrive on the day, but will be treated to visiting one of the most beautiful nature spots in the North West.

Kindly supporting the digital detox days out are local sponsors Crossfield Exclusive; a North West based developer committed to creating exceptional environments to live, work and play across Merseyside, as well as Peak Elevation UK; one of the UK’s leading mountain guides helping to keep everyone safe on their adventures and Kaiza Travel helping to accommodate all travellers and providing transportation that’s second to none.

Guests are asked to wear sensible clothing (weather dependent) and bring a packed lunch.

Once open, Awake will offer a full timetable of free children’s classes, encouraging Liverpool youth to practise  fitness, yoga, meditation, mindfulness and wellbeing, which in turn reduces anxiety, depression and stress – tendencies which have spiked amongst children in recent years.

Former MMA fighter and businessman Mark Scanlon, co-founder of Awake, said: “Hosting a digital detox day out is something that’s incredibly important to us all at Awake. So many people – both adults and children – are totally engrossed in their devices on a daily basis and gone are the days of spending more time outdoors, and engaging with each other without being distracted by calls, messages, social media and apps.

“We’re bringing back a sense of community to the city and couldn’t be more excited to host our first of hopefully many digital detox days out for families and groups of friends in Liverpool.”

Mick Caren, founder of Peak Elevation UK, added: “Taking some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is extremely beneficial. It’ll give everyone a chance to recharge their batteries and the mental benefits for getting outdoors and amongst nature are endless. I’m really looking forward to guiding everyone on Awake’s first digital detox day out.”
