Owner Ian said: 

“It all started over 35 years ago really, as my mum Joan sold baby clothing on markets all around the North West and Wales. When she started doing really well, my Dad Tony agreed to open a store in Moreton in 1988 and that’s when Babylicious was officially born– a lot has changed since then in the industry though, that’s for sure.”

Since Babylicious was founded, the baby product industry has seen lots of new brands come through, technological advancements and more safety regulations. Babylicious have led the way in the quality and regulation of the latest products, resulting in Ian becoming a key judge for the Baby Product Association, and they also specialise in premature clothing.

Ian said: 

“We’ve always stocked the highest quality products and have won awards for doing so — we’ve also been nominated for Best Independent Nursery Store In UK. Quality is something my Mum has insisted on from the start. She’s still very much involved in the business however my Dad sadly passed away a few years ago — we keep a photo of him in the shop and I think he’d be proud we’re still going strong.”

Reflecting on their 35 years’ trading, Ian and Joan estimate that they’ve served around 175,000 customers and have supplied to customers in over 50 countries across the globe through their online shop. They have raised in excess of £100,000 for charity over the years and they are carbon neutral — stocking environmentally friendly products and planting trees.

Ian said: 

“It’s crazy to think how many people we’ve served and how many babies we’ve supplied clothing, toys and products to. It’s so lovely to know we’ve played a role in babies’ lives growing up. We’ve been really successful for 35 years now and we’ve always given back too — that’s so important to us. We’ve always donated money and clothes to various baby, children and baby loss charities.”
