Alder Hey Children’s Charity are set to host a fantastic evening at Fazenda Bar & Grill in Exchange Flags in Liverpool City Centre to raise much needed funds that will help develop the hospital’s ward-based chef programme and menus.
On Monday the 15th of January, Alder Hey Children’s Charity and some of its supporters including Shirley Ballas, Beth Tweddle and special guests from Gogglebox and Hollyoaks will enjoy a glamorous night of excellent food, amazing wines, Brazilian beer and Alder Hey cocktails, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the charity.
Guests will have an opportunity to mingle with special guests at the iconic Liverpool Town Hall where there will be a ‘blue carpet’ arrival and cocktail reception from 6:30pm. They can then make their way over to Fazenda Rodizio Bar and Grill, where Alder Hey surgeons and ward chefs will go head to head in the kitchen. Alongside a live auction, guests will be invited to vote for the best dish and crown the ’Champions of the Kitchen’
Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January claimed to be the most depressing day of the year and with this in mind, Alder Hey plans to fight off the blues by celebrating the date instead!
A healthy and balanced diet play a key role in a child’s treatment and recovery and at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, every ward has a dedicated chef and a menu specially designed for children undergoing treatment and recovering from illnesses. Patients at Alder Hey are offered a wide range of freshly cooked meals featuring locally sourced produce where possible.
Annina, age 3 has Cystic Fibrosis and is in hospital with Pseudomonas. Annina’s mum said “Because of her condition, Annina needs medication to help her digest food. It’s great to have so much choice on the menu and fresh food, as Annina can be especially fussy and we need to make sure she eats.” Highlighting the importance of good nutrition and its impact on recovery, Alder Hey surgeons will be taking on Alder Hey chefs in the ultimate cook off at Fazenda and the winners will be crowned champions of the kitchen.
Tickets for this event are £60 per person and this includes a cocktail reception at Liverpool Town Hall before dinner with wine and beer at Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill, with 100% of the proceeds going to Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
