Beat the January blues as Yellow Monday returns to Liverpool
7 hours ago
Say goodbye to the winter blues and hello to Yellow Monday!
Returning on 20 January, Yellow Monday, organised by Liverpool BID Company, aims to rebrand Blue Monday—traditionally considered the most depressing day of the year—into a day filled with positivity, fun, and community spirit.
Packed with free activities, giveaways, live music, and even a bouquet of flowers for someone deserving, Yellow Monday is a city-wide celebration of joy, all thanks to Liverpool’s businesses who are stepping up to donate services and offers.
One of the most popular activities of 2024 returns this January with the flower bouquet giveaway for a member of staff. Businesses are invited to nominate a colleague who will have flowers delivered to their desk.
This year will include live music outside commuter train stations, including Moorfields, James Street and Liverpool Central. Exchange Flags will see a pastry and banana giveaway and creative tote bag hub.
Yoga, running club and pilates sessions will be held at lunch time along with a Self-Esteem Comedy Class with The Comedy Trust.
Katie Bentley, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Communications at Liverpool BID Company, said:
“January is a cold and depressing start of the year, but what our first Yellow Monday taught us was that with a bit of positivity we can turn a blue day into a joyful one. We know much more about mental health and wellbeing than we used to, and it’s important for us to know there is a community around us on those days we need a little lift.”
