Calling all film buffs, there’s a brilliant way to beat the January blues with film nights in Liverpool. Taking place in Toxteth this Winter, Community initiative L8 Laffs is bringing classic comedy back to the big screen you’re invited.
One event venue, VideOdyssey, Windsor Street is thought to be the city’s last ever video shop and while its vast stock of vintage video tapes, VCR’s for hire and free to play arcade games, is impressive, its the hidden gem 25 square foot cinema screen that’s perhaps the most impressive. Hosting the first of the L8 Laffs comedy film nights, you can have a night out for just a fiver at VideOdyssey.
Alongside Granby Winter Garden and Squash, an arts and health hub on Windsor Street, VideOdyssey will kick off proceedings on Saturday 12th January at 6pm with Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy as the Prince of Zamunda who finds himself in Queens, NY looking for his princess to be. Littered with brilliant cameo’s and an all star cast, get your tickets for this iconic 80’s romcom and quote along til your hearts content!
Other films in the L8 Laffs series include a tribute to the Director Penny Marshall with Tom Hank in BIG the extended version, Buster Keaton’s The General, Tamporo, Uncle Drew and Sidewalk Stories, in the coming weeks.
