Bluecoat announces free online storytelling sessions for families perfect for home-school
4 years ago
Home-schooling might have just got a little easier as Bluecoat has announced a series of live storytelling sessions inspired by the theme of Twisted Myths, to help entertain and educate children during lockdown.
Produced by master storyteller Gav Cross, the interactive sessions will take place via Bluecoat’s Facebook page. Taking inspiration from subjects on the school curriculum, Gav will explore Greek myths, the Romans and Ancient Egyptians in his own uniquely exuberant storytelling style.
All stories are recommended for ages 7 and over, or Key Stage 2 and above. All sessions are free but viewers are asked to make a donation if they can, which will go towards Bluecoat’s family programme.
The three sessions taking place include:
Lost in the Labyrinth….
Tue 2nd Feb, 3.30pm
Theseus & The Minotaur and the importance of keeping a promise.
The Romans in Wales?
Wed 3rd Feb, 3.30pm
How Anglesey was the nasty end of the Invasion line, for the Britons…
Are You My Mummy?
Thu 4th Feb, 3.30pm
An Ancient Egyptian story of gods and rivers.
Betty Ritchie, Bluecoat’s Participation Manager and Children and Families Lead said:
“We know it can be a challenge finding ways to entertain your family during this lockdown. At Bluecoat we would usually have a programme of family events throughout the year. With our building closed, we’re keen to bring as many events and activities to our family visitors as possible that are both entertaining and enriching.
“We’ve worked with Gav extensively in the past, hosting his storytelling sessions and also Funny Looking Kids, Liverpool’s comedy club for children. He’s incredibly popular with our visitors and we can’t wait to see these brand new sessions.”
