Bluecoat is giving away Creative Christmas Kits and free lunches for kids
4 years ago
In the run-up to Christmas, Bluecoat is giving away festive activity kits for kids.
Each kit contains fun, seasonal activities, as well as a voucher to redeem at Bluecoat’s cafe for a child’s meal.
Children will be able to create their own seasonal wreath and make beautiful tree decorations, plus enjoy a sandwich and a hot chocolate in the cafe or in Bluecoat’s garden*.
The initiative is inspired by Bluecoat’s new exhibition Undo Things Done by Sean Edwards. In the show Edwards explores his childhood experiences of growing up on the Llanedeyrn estate in Cardiff.
One artwork, printed on newsprint, reads ‘Free School Dinners’ and recalls how the artist was one of the only boys at his school to have to queue up separately for a free school meal.
Betty Ritchie, Bluecoat’s Children and Families Lead, said:
“This year has been especially hard for Liverpool families and the school holidays can put additional strain on family finances. As anyone who has experienced hunger will know, when your stomach is empty it’s difficult to focus on anything else. In his exhibition, Sean Edwards illustrates that food poverty can have a significant effect on children reaching their full potential.
Our Christmas offer is our way of highlighting this issue through offering all children the chance to enjoy a free lunch whilst engaging in some fun, festive activities.”
These activities have been kindly supported by #postiveaboutplay an MPAC and LCVS initiative.
The free festive kits will be available from 12th-23rd December, simply drop into Bluecoat to collect one.
