Bombed Out Church to host arts event for mental health awareness
9 months ago

This Saturday evening, the iconic Bombed Out Church will host a special event combining the arts with a cause that impacts millions: mental health awareness.
Organised by renowned dancer Laura Macy, the event at the Bombed Out Church features the premiere of a new music video and serves as a fundraiser for the Mental Health Foundation.
Laura Macy, whose impressive career spans work both locally in Liverpool and internationally in Los Angeles, and who notably performed as a backup dancer for Rita Ora at Eurovision last year, has poured her heart and soul into this project.
Macy’s motivation stems from a desire to leverage her artistic talents to foster a movement that champions mental health awareness. This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is “Movement,” perfectly aligning with Macy’s dance background.
The event will showcase a music video set to the song “Way Out,” by singer Nicolina Bozzo, a top-five finalist from American Idol 2022. The video also features performances by local dancers and choirs.Â
The choirs involved include the Liverpool Inspirational Voices – a visually impaired choir, alongside the Liverpool Indie Choir, Crosby Pop Choir and Manchester Alternative Choir, all conducted by choirmaster Tim Taylor.

Macy Explained:
“We wanted to create something that not only entertains but also makes a difference. Movement and dance have incredible benefits for mental health – helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a sense of community. Mental health is a critical issue, and through this project, we aim to bring more attention and support to it.”
Tickets for the premiere are now available to the public, with a portion of each sale being donated to the Mental Health Foundation.
The evening’s entertainment will also include live performances from local singers David Alexander and Meg Hulse, as well as a joint performance from members of all four choirs.
For those unable to attend, a fundraising page has been set up to support the charity directly.
