Bongo’s Bingo have got pretty much the hottest tickets in town in May 2023.
Bongo’s Bingo proudly presents two previous UK Eurovision winners performing live on Friday May 12th at CONTENT, a day before the big final itself.
Jonny Bongo and the team will be welcoming an exclusive Liverpool weekend performance from The Fizz – previously known as Buck’s Fizz – with Katrina formerly of Katrina & The Waves starring too, in an all out Bongo’s Bingo-inspired party of maximum confetti, colour and chaos as the world’s eyes fall upon the city. It’s an precedented double whammy of epic acts who will be celebrating all things Bongo’s Bingo as well as getting everyone in the mood for the Eurovision contest’s conclusion the following night.
Jonny Bongo says:
“As soon as Liverpool got the nod to host Eurovision, we wanted to do something special to honour this incredible event coming to the city. It’s a mammoth couple of weeks leading to the actual final and knowing hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world are coming here is absolutely class. So this is our contribution to the magic of Eurovision – two previous UK winners, The Fizz and Katrina formerly of Katrina & The Waves and – performing live on stage and The Fizz won’t be anywhere else in Liverpool that weekend.
It’s going to be a crazy party and we’re so happy this Eurovision royalty are coming to the show. And on the following day, ticket proceeds from our Eurovision Watch-A-Long party on Saturday 13th May will be donated to the UNICEF Ukraine Crisis Appeal.”
Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston – three names that are iconic in Eurovision history – were once members of the Eurovision-winning group, Bucks Fizz, now known as The Fizz. With a string of over 20 hits under their belts, including their No. 1 Hits, Land of Make Believe, My Camera Never Lies and, of course, Making Your Mind Up, they continue to astound their audiences with their vocal prowess and superb entertainment value. 2021 was their 40th Anniversary year since winning the Eurovision Song Contest.
Katrina And The Waves were the hugely successful female-fronted four piece rock band during the 1980s and 90s, built around the infectiously melodic, sixties-influenced songs of former Soft Boy guitarist Kimberley Rew and the distinctively powerful vocals of Katrina Leskanich. They are best known for their evergreen, feel good anthemic 1985 hit single Walking On Sunshine. In 1997 Katrina and the Waves’ Love Shine a Light won the Eurovision Song Contest with the largest ever margin, followed by an unprecedented four consecutive appearances on Top of The Pops and a No. 3 in the UK Charts.
Then on Saturday 13th May at CONTENT, Jonny Bongo is back hosting a Eurovision Watch-A-Long to share all the tension, joy and wonder as the results roll in from just down the road. The night features Jonny and 500 other Eurovision superfans to watch the world’s greatest music competition unfold. Jonny will also perform two Eurovision themed DJ sets both before and after the main event.
