Bonnie Tyler amongst headliners at new music festival The Brit Fest

The eagerly awaited Brit Fest is set to kick off this weekend, with final preparations underway at the expansive 100-acre festival site at Ashley Hall Showground in Altrincham.
Running from Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7, The Brit Fest promises three days of unforgettable performances and activities.
The Brit Fest features an impressive line-up of legendary chart-toppers and top British music acts. Scouting for Girls will headline the opening night, followed by Bonnie Tyler on Saturday, and Heather Small will close the festival on Sunday.
Scouting for Girls’ frontman Roy Stride, said:

The stellar headliners will be joined on the programme by some of the cream of pop, rock, indie, soul, country, rap and musical theatre including Cast, Dodgy, The Feeling, Fleur East, Kim Wilde, Hot Chocolate, T’Pau, Nik Kershaw, Starsailor and Reef – with Saturday a salute to the stars of the 1980s.
And any festivalgoers who dress in fantastic 80s fashion on 6 July are also in with a chance of winning the chance to get up on stage and join TV’s Timmy Mallett for an ‘utterly brilliant’ live session of Mallett’s Mallet.
The main stage is hosted by radio’s Jenny Powell and Mike Toolan.
There is also a full programme of bands, choirs, DJs, solo acts, cover outfits, authors, wellness experts and motivational speakers on the site’s ABC+ Warranty Stage including M60, The Covasettes, Prose, Daisy Valentine, Megan Wyn and many more during the three-day event.
The Brit Fest is also promising a wide-ranging line-up of amazing entertainment right across its festival site including unmissable attractions for thrill-seekers, family-friendly fun and relaxing activities for those who simply want to chill out. And, they will be showing the Euros quarter-final England game on Saturday.
The John Collins Fun Fair includes some of Europe’s most exciting white-knuckle rides, with attractions in the Action Zone and spread across the festival site including the Big Wheel in the Music Arena.
Or head to the Action Zone for some high-octane action courtesy of the Extreme Mountain Bike Show featuring five times British Champion and European Champion Danny Butler and his team in a nail-biting show of jaw dropping stunts and agility.
The Action Zone is also the place to head for classic car displays with the opportunity to admire some true British motoring icons – along with the chance to win a new Toyota Aygo.
Meanwhile the Village Green which will offer a huge range of unmissable attractions and activities including the ABC+ Warranty Free Fall stunt tower and Civvy 2 Commando.
There is also the chance to see the stars from the Manchester Storm ice hockey team and try to shoot a puck past the goalie, and Altrincham Football Club will also be on hand challenging people to try and score a goal, along with hosting a festival pop up with the latest Altrincham kit among merchandise on offer.
Legendary and much-loved British Olympic ski jumper Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards will also be in attendance over the weekend ready to meet festival crowds, as will daredevil Danny Butler.
The Village Green is also the location for the Sol Cinema, a solar-powered vintage caravan showing classic British short films all weekend, and for Samba Espirito and its irresistible carnival energy.
Big laughs are guaranteed on Saturday and Sunday courtesy of comedians Geordie Geoff, Perry Reilly and Michael Frankland.
And there is a busy programme of events planned over all three days in the Mindful Meadow, including yoga sessions, reflexology, eco therapy and cacao, sound healing sessions, a sleep retreat, group relaxation and mixed movement groups sessions, along with kids’ craft activities, family crafts and glitter and decoration with The Glam Shack.
Youngsters can relax at the Big Hat Tipi Children’s Cinema or enjoy learning about how to build a robot with Mark Haig of Gizmobots who creates amazing and quirky robots from ‘found’ objects.
The Mindful Meadow is also where you will find the TimberJacks Axe Throwing where the adventurous can channel their inner lumberjacks and show their skills trying to hit the bullseye.
Festival fun continues with rides for little ones in the festival site’s Tinker Town! where families will also discover plenty of games and stalls.
And festivalgoers won’t want to miss the Taste Cheshire Village within the Village Green which will be packed with dozens of local producers and retailers, while tantalising food outlets and bars stocked with favourite alcoholic and soft drinks can be found throughout the site.
The Brit Fest is organised by Olivier nominated brothers Anthony and Edward Prophet.
