British Transplant Games: 10 year old Maisie tells her story on Radio City Talk

The British Transplant Games are the flagship project of the charity Transplant Sport and have been in existence for over 30 years when the first “Transplant Olympics” took place in Portsmouth in 1978. This year they are being held right here in Liverpool and kick off today and run until Sunday.

This morning Steve Hothersall was joined by 10 year old Maisie Danher who has undergone two liver transplants and is now taking part in the games here in her home town. She was also joined by her Mum Jenny to tell her incredible story.

Watch the chat above and find out more about he British Transplant Games here www.britishtransplantgames.co.uk

For more information about transplants in general please visit www.organdonation.nhs.uk and for Transplant Sports www.transplantsport.org.uk

The Games aim to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation, encouraging transplant patients to regain fitness, whilst increasing public awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and discuss their wishes with their families. They also seek to thank and celebrate donor families and the gift of life.
