Budding sports therapists to run free sports injury and massage clinics at Edge Hill University
2 years ago
Edge Hill University is offering free advice and treatment for people with musculoskeletal conditions.
Second and third-year BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy students will run the free clinics on campus under supervision from a member of the teaching team.
The EHU Sports Therapy clinic is a place where people can come to get advice and treatment for their musculoskeletal conditions to help them keep active and involved with their sports and physical activities.
It is open to all ages and levels of physical activity. If you have an injury or problem that is holding you back from enjoying your preferred sport, hobby or physical activity, our students and staff can provide valuable advice and treatment.
Fionnuala Geoghegan, Senior Lecturer in Sports Therapy, said:
“The clinic is a fabulous, free opportunity for members of the public and the University to make use of the knowledge and skills of Sports Therapy students and staff, to help them prevent or recover from injuries.
“Last year we helped many patients get back to the sports and activities they love, often after periods of inactivity during the pandemic.”
Clinics will run weekly on Tuesday and Wednesdays 9am to 5pm starting from 4 October, 2022.
During a sports injury appointment, students will ask questions about your musculoskeletal injury and perform a physical assessment. They will provide you with information and advice about the problem, and treatment and rehabilitation where appropriate. Depending upon the nature of the problem, further appointments may be recommended.
Sports massages are also available for those who are not currently injured, helping with recovery, performance, and general wellbeing.
