Camp and Furnace Christmas: 10 events you can head to over the festive season

You can’t have too many nights out at this time of year, not just to make sure you get all festive in the run-up but to avoid that nothingy Chrimbo limbo before New Year.
Camp and Furnace has got the whole party season covered, with nights on right up to the big day itself and then going through to a massive New Year’s Eve celebration to see in 2022.
Here’s 10 events you can head to at Camp and Furnace over the festive season …
1. Ya Nan’s Big Xmas Quiz (December 19)
Ya Nan’s been on the Baileys so best not give her any cheek, just keep the answers coming while she digs into the big choccy tin and hosts a super-Christmassy quiz with her take on telly favourites like Play Your Cards Right, Blind Date and Family Fortunes. There’s festive karaoke, cocktails, belting sing-a-long sessions and loads of chances to make a proper Christmas show. 6-11.30pm.

2. ABBA Christmas Boogie (December 19)
Nothing’s more guaranteed to pack out the dancefloor and lift the roof off than a night of endless back-to-back ABBA hits. If you’re looking for a fun 70s and 80s disco night then this is definitely it, with a live ABBA revival tribute, indoor snow, Christmas cocktails and just about every possible excuse to unleash your Dancing Queen and boogie your way towards a Happy New Year. 6pm-11.30pm.

3. Tinsel Town (December 20)
Not got your mates or works night out boxed off yet? Don’t stress because you can’t go wrong with Tinsel Town at Camp and Furnace, it’s the ultimate Christmas night out all under one roof. There’s tonnes of deccies, Christmas hit sing-a-longs, a live band, everyone’s favourite Christmas film clips, cocktails, mulled wine and naughty & nice hot chocolate to get you feeling all warm inside. 8pm-1am.

4. I Love Music Quiz – Xmas Special (December 21)
Everyone loves games at Christmas, but put down the Pictionary and step away from the Trivial Pursuit for the night to test your music knowledge instead. Camp and Furnace’s I Love Music Quiz is back for a festive special so expect Christmassy hits, dance-offs and prizes as well as a chance to get your hands on a cash prize for one last big spend. 6pm-11.30pm.

5. Pete Price’s ‘Costa Del Scouse’ Xmas Special (December 22)
The legend that is Pete Price returns to Camp and Furnace on the Wednesday before Christmas to bring a bit of Benidorm to the Baltic with his Costa Del Scouse Christmas special. Never mind how cold it is outside, because inside Furnace it’s like being on your holidays with a beach band, pop-up pub, variety acts and plenty of Christmas sing-a-longing and surprises. 7.30pm-1am.

6. A Very Bavarian Christmas (December 23)
Oktoberfest might seem like a distant memory, but don’t give up on all that stein swinging and oompah-ing just yet because Germany’s favourite festival is back to make sure 2021 goes out with a bang. It’s beer and Christmas cheer all the way with a live band, trestle tables and benches, festive food and – possibly best of all – dress-up is encouraged so the lederhosen get once last outing! 6pm-midnight.

7. Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club (December 26)
Boxing Night’s always a huge one in Liverpool and this is the perfect way to shake off the hangover and Quality Street overdose on the dancefloor. DJ and radio presenter Craig Charles will be heading up a night of non-stop funk and soul, mixing a set of absolute classic gems with fantastic emerging talent in one legendary Boxing Night show. 10pm-4am.

8. Martin Kemp – Back To The 80s (December 28)
Everyone knows Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet, but he does a decent turn on the decks too and his nights at Camp and Furnace are always a sell-out. Dig out your legwarmers and Ray-Bans for some belters including hits from Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson, Blondie. And odds on you’ll have sung Livin’ On a Prayer at least once by the end of the night! 8pm-1am.

9. Teach Rex – Christmas (December 28/29)
If you’ve got kids then take a break from trying to work out how to build the new Lego, and take them to Teach Rex instead. Anyone who likes dinosaurs will really love this 45-minute show which uses life-like models, music and special effects to teach kids of all ages all about the incredible creatures who used to roam the earth. 10am-2pm on the Tuesday and Wednesday.

10. LOST NYE Carnival – December 31
Start the New Year as you mean to go on, with an absolutely amazing night in the hands of the weird and always wonderful LOST UK. The venue will totally transformed for a carnival complete with circus performers and acrobats, two rooms of DJs playing house & tech and hip-hop/DnB and as much glitter and confetti as you can possibly cram in to one massive party. 9pm-3am.
