Celebrating Bold Street is back this August with a packed line-up of fun

The full line-up has been announced for Celebrating Bold Street, the next big event in Liverpool BID’s free summer programme, and it’s shaping up to be a brilliant day out for all ages.

Taking place on Sunday 17 August, the event follows the huge success of Celebrating Castle Street, which kicked things off last weekend, despite the rain, crowds still turned out in force.

Chloe Gaughan from Liverpool BID, who leads on the summer events, said:

“The number of visitors shows that people really enjoy these special events no matter the weather. The increase in footfall year on year reflects the enthusiasm and the desire to enjoy the culture and hospitality on our city centre streets. We want to create something for everyone and the expanding programme shows that. We’d like to extend our thanks to the businesses who took part on Castle Street, and to those who are preparing for Bold Street.”

Here’s what to expect on the day at Celebrating Bold Street:

• A Makers’ Market at the Bombed Out Church with special offers
• All-day Silent Disco Tours with Silent Adventures
• Free tie-dye sock workshops for all ages
• Face painting and glitter art
• Giant chess on the street
• Walkabout performers, including Zelva the giant tortoise at 11:40, 13:30 and 15:15 and stilt walkers at 11:00, 12:40 and 14:10
• A roaming brass band from Alberts Schloss performing from 2:30pm, finishing outside the venue
• Live music on a main stage at Roscoe Place and more local acts popping up at One Under throughout the day
• Batala Mersey drumming up a storm at 3:30pm

As well as performances and activities, loads of Bold Street favourites will be getting involved with in-store events, giveaways and special offers. You’ll find:

• A jam session at Route One
• Creative workshops at Sostrene Greene
• Henna art and giveaways at Bundobust
• DJs, deals and freebies at Resurrection
• Street food from Maray
• Tasting sessions at Mattas
• A lemonade stand and lucky dip at LEAF
• And lots more up and down the street
