Charity Takeover Week: These incredible items are used to make radiotherapy easier for children

We are spending today with Clatterbridge Cancer Charity in the hope that we can raise awareness and help with their mission to open a new hospital in Liverpool next door to the new Royal. Throughout the day we will be meeting patients, fundraisers and staff who can tell you a bit more about what they do and what we can do to help.

Sarah Stead is a Paediatric Radiographer at Claterbridge. Sarah treats child cancer patients with radiotherapy after they are referred to Clatterbridge from Alder Hey. She has done a lot of work to make the experience less frightening for children and their families – including creating the world’s longest loom band for one little girls so she could hold one end while her mum her the other during treatment, a Storm Trooper radiotherapy mask for another patient and an incredible Lego model to explain how radiotherapy works.

We think you will agree her passion for her job shines through and what she is doing at Clatterbridge is pretty incredible. Watch the video above.
