Cineworld Speke’s 4DX cinema proving a big hit with Liverpool film fans

Cineworld Liverpool in Speke is celebrating the success of its immersive 4DX screen, which has been drawing in film fans since launching in December.

Liverpool’s first 4DX auditorium opened just in time for the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash and has quickly become one of the city’s most talked-about cinema experiences.

Since launch, screenings have attracted strong demand, with audiences returning to experience blockbuster films in a more immersive way.

4DX is Cineworld’s most advanced cinema format, combining motion-synchronised seats with a range of environmental effects designed to match the action on screen. Viewers can experience wind, water, scent, fog, bubbles and strobe lighting alongside the film, turning major releases into a multi-sensory experience.

The new screen is part of a wider £35 million investment programme across Cineworld’s UK sites, focused on introducing new technology and improving the cinema experience. Liverpool has been among the first locations to benefit from the upgrade.

Adam O’Hara said the response from audiences has been strong since day one.

He said: “The response from our Speke guests has been phenomenal. 4DX has completely transformed the way people experience blockbuster films here in Liverpool.

“We’ve seen huge demand since launch, with audiences coming back time and time again to experience their favourite films in a whole new way.

“4DX isn’t just watching a movie, it’s riding it. We’re incredibly proud to be bringing this level of immersive cinema technology to the city.”

With a busy schedule of major film releases planned throughout 2026, Cineworld Liverpool Speke’s 4DX screen is continuing to attract audiences looking for something beyond the traditional cinema experience.
