Clatterbridge Cancer Charity last week held their iconic annual fundraising ball at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, raising a spectacular £188,000 to support patients and research at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
Guests were transported back to the vibrant era of the 1980’s for a night of nostalgia and fundraising, hosted by true 80s icon Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz. This star-studded event attracted well-known personalities from across the region, including Liverpool Football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish and his wife Marina, acclaimed restauranteur Nisha Katona MBE, photographer and performing artist Mike McCartney and local radio and TV personality Pete Price. With such esteemed guests in attendance, the atmosphere was electric from start to finish, as the ballroom filled with excitement and generosity.
Guests were welcomed by Charity Chair Brian Barwick OBE before enjoying dinner, while Cheryl kept the room entertained and donations flowing throughout the evening. There was no shortage of ways to get involved in supporting Clatterbridge, with a range of fundraising activities on offer, including an amazing Boodles prize giveaway, a luxury tombola, a silent auction and a live auction hosted by professional auctioneer Jonny Gould.
Guests also heard from Clatterbridge Professor Carlo Palmieri about his work detecting the early signs of advanced breast cancer, with patient Chloe Mace speaking passionately about her treatment and cancer journey with Clatterbridge.
The ball was generously supported by headline sponsor CDW, The Johnson Foundation, Panoramic 34, A&B Engineering and Slater & Gordon.
Katrina Bury, Chief Executive of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said:
“The ball is the most prestigious event in our calendar and this one really was wonderful. A huge thank you to all those who attended, donated and sponsored.
“We are delighted to have raised such an incredible amount for local people with cancer.
“A special mention must also go to our Ball Committee, who as always have been extremely generous with their time and efforts to make this event such a success.”
