Cosmolopolis is coming to Invisible Wind Factory
2 years ago
The immersive indoor festival concept from IWF on New Years’ Eve returns in the form of Cosmopolis on Saturday 1st April.
This warp speed collaboration is with Plush, one of Liverpool’s most beloved rave parties, and Space Cassette who specialise in live electronic music and ritual dancing in secret locations across Manchester. The second edition of Megalopolis takes a trip through the door to the cosmos for another out of this world experience spanning three rooms once again.
Now it’s time to book a shuttle, hove-bike or dust down the moon boots as the I.W.F. Amorphic spacecraft will be launching in 3… 2… 1…
Cosmolopolis features a very cosmic lineup headlined by Henge – their scintillating live performances have earned them ‘Best Live Act’ at the Independent Festival Awards and they have cemented their reputation with two acclaimed albums, numerous tours and regular main-stage festival appearances.
They are joined by Galaxians, Paddy Steer, and Space Cassette DJs in the Milky Way before everyone is sucked down into the Black Hole for a Plush takeover with their mega lineup of local DJs. And that’s not all – deep in the secret Wormhole Benno & Alien Izz (as depicted as aliens in the poster artwork from Intangible Objects) will go back to back using the legendary RLA Sun Palace Sound System.
The audience will be truly immersed in the world of Cosmolopolis through intergalactic décor and amazing installations such as Crystal Remnants, a science-art collaboration between The Kazimier, Richard O’Flynn and Joe Gardner that brings geology to life allowing the user to enter the realm of crystal space.
The installation turns scientific data from crushed rock samples into an audio-visual sensory ‘bath’. The sensory experience is delivered using a custom hardware system which consists of binaural audio hardware and a curved video wall mounted inside a mirrored unit. Space travellers at Cosmolopolis are encouraged to close their eyes and let the lights wash over them.
There’s alsoa special one-off install from Kromavision and an interactive arcade games from the IWF event concept Leisure Land. There will also be the chance to transform into space creatures with free face and body painting from makeup and special effects artist Meg Hankin.
