The Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show is taking place until 31st December with 4 action-packed days of world class sport, entertainment and family fun happening at Echo Arena.
Young show jumper Eve McCoy, daughter of famous jockey and Aintree Grand National Winner AP McCoy OBE, proved that riding is in her blood today at as she competed in Invitational Mini Major Relay Competition at The Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show at the Echo Arena.
The mini major featured 14 pairs of youngsters matched up with top professionals and all in fancy dress outfits. President of The Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show, Nina Barbour, also competed in the class with youngster Hallie O’Dell alongside top names Shane Breen, Britain’s leading rider Laura Renwick and 2018 World Equestrian Games team member, Holly Smith.
AP McCoy has a great connection with Liverpool after winning the Grand National in 2010, but says his daughter now dictates the travel plans.
He said: “I was told I had to be in Liverpool by the 30th December by my daughter Eve. It just shows you how things change in your life when you start getting bossed around by your eleven year old daughter” says twenty time Champion Jockey, AP McCoy. Now retired from National Hunt racing, despite being one of the greatest figures in sporting history, he now finds himself “being dragged to shows and mucking out ponies!”
“Eve really loves competing and she’s got plenty of bottle, which you can’t teach a kid.”
On New Year’s Eve the TheraPlate Liverpool, International Horse Show will host the biggest and the best party at The Echo Arena on Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, and everyone is invited. The New Year’s Eve session is open to guests of all ages and so families can enjoy this rare opportunity to spend such an important occasion altogether.
The electric atmosphere will build for the 7pm performance, starting with the Theraplate UK Grand Prix and climaxing at midnight with a breathtaking display of indoor fireworks and pyrotechnics to welcome in the New Year.
