Dining Out: Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill is Sexy!

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Liverpool at Hotel Indigo has undergone a radical renovation and refurbishment and its now one of the sleekest bars in town.

We sent our Kate down to the Chapel Street hotel to find out more.

I’ve been luckily enough to stay at Hotel Indigo in the past and while I knew the hotel boasted 4 star luxury and a previously bright, streamlined look, I wasn’t expecting such a overhaul!

From the innovative drum kit, low lighting over the reception desk to the emerald green, Mathew Street inspired tiles on the bar, the whole ground floor has had a magnificent face-lift.

A warm atmosphere is created with the use of vibrant colour, in this case teal velvet chairs and columned booths, paired with geometric tiles and dark wooden table tops and jewel effect table wear. Find out more about the refurb here.

The bar alone is going to become a city nightlife hot spot in no time!

The Guide Liverpool - MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill

Seated for dinner in a spacious yet cosy dining room, my dinner date and I poured over the cocktail menu while the friendly and efficient staff made helpful recommendations. With a cotton candy martini in hand we were encouraged to try the Chateaubriand, and lets face it, you can’t visit a Marco Pierre White dining room and not order meat!

Now, I don’t write a lot of restaurant reviews because I don’t have extensive knowledge of the industry nor an educated palette, but what I can tell you is this. I almost cried when I saw the Chateaubriand. Just a perfectly cut, cooked and presented hunk of beef, and it tasted like heaven.

From the intricate canapes, to the main course that was delicately carved at our table by restaurant manager, Paul, this was the first time I wasn’t embarrassed to photograph my food in the middle of a dining room, because others were openly looking on, swooning at our plates!

I’m not sure I’ve ever written so many words about a plate of food!

MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill

I’ve summed up the evening with a handy guide on why you should book a table and soak up the atmosphere at MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill.

It’s all about Liverpool. The bar and restaurant has Liverpool at its heart. Inspired by local architecture, the geometric flooring colours are taken from the Three Graces, the high-shine green tiles that clad the bar are inspired by Mathew Street and its Irish roots and the jet black brick towers resemble the chimneys that surrounded the hotel back in its cotton industry days. Celebrating Liverpool’s diverse history.

Service with a smile….and a natter. From the moment you enter the hotel reception you’re welcomed warmly not just with a smile but with a “hello, how are you doing?” with genuine interest. Restaurant manager, Paul has worked in the local hotel industry for many years and its clear his staff know the menu’s inside out. We agreed to every recommendation made by the waiting staff and we weren’t disappointed. Go say hi!

The Queen Approves The restaurant sources all of its meat from Royal Warrant appointed butcher, Campbell Brothers. Its absolutely stunning, just look at the photo’s!

Cocktails-O-Clock The cocktail menu is extensive and features some seriously tasty treats, in particular the Cotton Candy Martini which mixes vodka, grenadine, prosecco and lime juice with a little sweet twist. (Think I had two…..possibly three of these) Totally addictive! Check out the MPW website for drinks offers.

Old School Classics Steak and chips will never go out of fashion, and when its cooked to perfection, accompanied by the biggest onion rings and salted chips in their own copper pots…..devoured in a chilled out but sleek dining room……well what is there to complain about? Old school classics done to perfection.

Selfie Ops A bit more about the interior, because once you’ve been you’ll get it too. The huge, striped black and white arm chair and stripped back side board, the emerald tiled bar and reflective surfaces that litter the bar and dining room just ooze style. Its a place to be seen. Expect to see selfies with #mpw_liv all over Instagram very soon. (Including mine)

Dessert The dessert menu features 6 carefully selected desserts and coffee liqueurs that will add a sumptuous finishing touch to your dining experience. The sticky toffee pudding comes with warm pouring sauce that melts the vanilla ice-cream before your eyes. (Not embarrassed to say I filmed this in slow-mo and its still making my mouth water 12 hours later!)

MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill

Location Hotel Indigo is situated on Chapel Street, just a stones throw from the Pier Head and in the very heart of the business district of Old Hall Street and Tithebarn street. MPW Steakhouse Bar & Grill the perfect location for post-work drinks, working lunches, first dates and Sunday afternoon family dinners alike. A real jack of all trades, but done with effortless style.

The Best of the Best We’re a city of trend-setters and we like to be at the top of our game, and so Marco Pierre White, the youngest British Chef to attain 3 Michelin stars joining the Liverpool restaurant scene is a match made in heaven. (Plus Marco also trained Gordon Ramsey……and made him cry…….like a boss!)
