DinoTown roars to success in Southport
Families in Southport were treated to a prehistoric spectacle on the final day of the DinoTown attraction, as dinosaurs roamed the town centre, delighting children and shoppers alike.
DinoTown, organised by Southport BID, featured four hand-held animatronic dinosaurs, with rangers bringing smiles to faces and adding an extra dash of excitement to the town.
Among the crowd favorites were Terry the Pterodactyl, Spiral the Spinosaurus, Smudge the Stigimoloch, and Apollo the Ankylosaurs, charming visitors with their lifelike movements and playful interactions.
These animatronic wonders were just a taste of the larger DinoTown experience, which featured fifteen brick-built dinosaur Brickosaur models scattered throughout Southport town centre, using over 550,000 bricks between them.
Throughout the school Easter holidays, families flocked to Southport to enjoy a host of dinosaur-themed events and activities. From the Dinormous Egg Hunt, where participants hunted for chocolate Easter eggs hidden around town, to workshops, character shows, and coloring competitions, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Lisa Hames, G Models & Casting Agency CEO, said:Â
âThis was the second event we brought our new dinosaurs to, after our first event in Kirkby on Saturday which was tremendous, with so many people coming into the town centre to see them.
âWe have thoroughly enjoyed being in Southport town centre on Sunday on the final day of Southport BIDâs DinoTown attraction.
âWe loved visiting some of the businesses in Southport town centre which were hosting the fabulous DinoTown models, including TK Maxx, Primark, Marks & Spencer, Wayfarers Shopping Arcade, and others, as well as meeting families in the Prehistoric Park in the Lord Street gardens outside Sainsburyâs.
âIt was magical seeing childrenâs faces as they came up to see our dinosaurs! They were fascinated. We hope it has been a lovely surprise for them.
âDinoTown has been a fantastic asset to people in Southport! Itâs been a real talking point, attracting lots of families into the town centre throughout the school Easter holidays.”
DinoTown by Southport BID created great reasons for visiting Southport town centre and its many shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels and other local businesses during the school Easter holidays.
Visitors enjoyed seeing brick-built dinosaurs close-up at Lord Street Gardens, opposite Sainsburyâs supermarket, which was transformed into âPrehistoric Parkâ for the duration of the DinoTown event.
