Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage is returning to the Liverpool Empire

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage is set to return to the Liverpool Empire Theatre next year, bringing all the energy, romance and iconic moments that made it a global phenomenon.

The hit production, inspired by the beloved 1987 film, is packed with the music, emotion and dancing that audiences have fallen in love with. Expect the heart-pounding soundtrack, the famous routines and the story that’s captured generations. Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage is back in the city and ready to sweep audiences up all over again.

Producer Karl Sydow said the show continues to resonate with fans. “We can’t wait to bring this amazing show back to audiences across the UK and Ireland. Now more than ever, theatre needs the excitement and joy that Dirty Dancing brings – you’ll have the time of your life.”

The production has been seen by millions around the world and follows Baby and Johnny, two young people from very different backgrounds whose lives collide during one unforgettable summer.

The stage show features the hit songs Hungry Eyes, Hey! Baby, Do You Love Me? and the unforgettable The Time Of My Life.

Liverpool audiences will get the chance to relive the story when the production returns in September 2026.

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage first opened at London’s Aldwych Theatre in 2006 and quickly broke records, selling £15 million in advance tickets and becoming the fastest-selling show in West End history. It went on to run for five years at the Aldwych, playing to more than two million people.

Produced by Karl Sydow in association with Lionsgate, Magic Hour Productions and Ivan MacTaggart, and written by Eleanor Bergstein, who penned the original film, the stage version stays true to the characters, dialogue and spirit of the movie that made it a classic.

Tickets go on general sale here on Tuesday 30 September at 10am.
