Large-scale projections cast against the Merseyside Maritime Museum and over 1 million new Christmas lights across 86 columns this year at Albert Dock Liverpool

This year, visitors to Royal Albert Dock Liverpool are invited to discover the Wonder of Christmas and enjoy a whole host of magical activities to get into the Christmas spirit.

Not only can guests experience the taste of Christmas at one of the many bars and restaurants, or find the perfect gift from  one  of  the  independent  retailers,  but  a  variety  of  winter  spectacles  will  be  taking  place throughout the festive period.

From gazing at the heart-warming ‘Love Returns’ projection cast against the Merseyside Maritime Museum,  roaming  around  the  beautifully-lit  Dock  which  will  be  illuminated  with  nearly  a  million lights, and snuggling up to watch Home Alone on the floating pop-up cinema, the Dock offers a festive experience like nowhere else in the city.

Visitors  can  enjoy  an  original  and  unique  visual  experience  with  a  series  of  incredible  huge projections,  created  by  Double  Take  Projections  LTD,  cast  against  the  inner  quay  side  of  the Merseyside Maritime Museum each with their own special theme.

The Christmas projection, ‘Love Returns’, will incorporate the spirit of Liverpool with a combination of romance, maritime and local history in a heart-warming film. The impressive works of art will be available to see from all around the Dock, and are destined to be one of Liverpool’s most stand-out Winter spectacles.

The Dock itself will be festively dressed with a brand new lighting scheme, Magical Lights. Over one  million  twinkling  lights  will  illuminate  each  of  the  86  iconic  columns,  capturing  the  spirit  of Liverpool and lighting up the inner quay and beyond. Visitors can roam through the beautifully lit Dock and explore the diverse retail offering to find the perfect present, or indulge in a tasty meal or festive tipple at one of the many bars and restaurants.

Festive   film   lovers   can   pay   a   visit   to   the   Christmas   pop-up   cinema   in   association   with Independent Liverpool, which launches on Saturday 30th November until Sunday 8th December. Not only can visitors snuggle under blankets and watch their favourite movies including Elf, Love Actually, The Grinch and Home Alone, but a selection of the Dockside restaurants will also be on hand to provide tasty cinema-style snacks and winter-warmers.

Part of National Museums Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum at the Dock has a number of Christmas  options  for  a  memorable  evening  of  drinking,  dining  and  dancing.  Encompassing waterfront  elegance  at  its  best,  guests  can  celebrate  in  style  at  the  historic  museum  with packages  to  suit  all  preferences.

These  include  an  all-inclusive  evening  with  a  sparkling  drinks reception  and  two-course  meal,  a  private  party  with  exclusive  hire  of  the  venue  and  a  special menu,  or  even  an  afternoon  tea  with  Santa  himself  complete  with  crafts  for  children  and  a selection of mouth-watering cakes.

In  addition  to  these  exciting  festivities,  the  Dock  also  plays  home  to  a  variety  of  retailers  and attractions including Tate Liverpool which hosts a number of must-see exhibitions, and a variety of limited edition prints and gifts from the Tate shop, providing the perfect Christmas present for art-lovers.
