Liverpool’s vibrant Baltic Triangle will come alive this May with the electrifying sights and sounds of Afro Explosion, a dynamic celebration of Afrobeat and global music, taking place at District on Saturday 24 May 2025.
Presented by Bubez Productions, the event promises an evening of “electrifying beats, vibrant dances, and unforgettable vibes”, showcasing both African musical excellence and cross-cultural musical influences from around the world.
At the heart of Afro Explosion is a mission to reflect music’s power as a universal language that transcends borders and unites communities. The event also serves as a platform for community cohesion, cultural exchange, and artistic empowerment.
Headlining the evening is internationally renowned DJ Edu — affectionately known as the AfroBoss. A highly respected figure in African music, DJ Edu is the host of This Is Africa on the BBC World Service and The AfroSounds Show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and a long-standing ambassador for the continent’s diverse music scene. Liverpool audiences will recognise him as a staple on the main stage at Africa Oyé, the UK’s largest free celebration of African music and culture.

Joining him on the bill is an exciting and eclectic roster of artists and performers, including:
- Rudebone
- Yoruba British
- Malam Spicey
- DJ CHENTO
- Okuku Scott
- RVDXO
- Chantal
- AGB JOSE
- And many more.
The curated line-up represents a wide spectrum of genres and talents, all rooted in a shared celebration of rhythm, identity, and innovation.
Afro Explosion is more than a music festival — it is a concept of trade and transformation, developed through a partnership between Bubez Productions Ltd and Leading Support For Humanity (LSFH), a Liverpool-based social enterprise and the parent organisation of Tigon Music.
Tigon Music focuses on nurturing emerging artists, helping them to hone their live performance skills, grow their audiences, and engage meaningfully with the music industry. Through its initiatives, it aims to create sustainable pathways for talented youth and young adults who are passionate about music and creative industries.

Paul Joe, CEO of Bubez Productions, commented:
“Afro Explosion will promote community cohesion, welcoming people from diverse backgrounds and cultures to unite through music. Let the rhythm move you as we celebrate the rich culture and music of Africa.”
Ayotunde Falana, Volunteer Founder of Tigon Music, added:
“This partnership between Tigon Music and Bubez Productions reflects a shared belief in the social responsibilities of businesses. It highlights the positive impact that collaboration between the third sector and commercial enterprises can have in delivering community-focused, socially responsible projects.”
