Edge Hill partner dot-art Schools has scooped a coveted Impact Award at the 2020 Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards for Improving Education & Learning. 

dot-art Schools is an annual inter-school, interactive, online art competition for Year 5 and Year 9 pupils across the Liverpool City Region, culminating in a public exhibition of the winning work.

The programme encourages children to explore their artistic side. Ultimately the aim is to increase pupil’s self-esteem by celebrating their art and give them a chance to process their thoughts and feelings through creativity.

dot-art Schools Project Manager Carolyn Murray said:

“We’re really proud to have won this award which acknowledges our work showcasing and celebrating children and young people’s creativity. We know what an important role art can play in building pupil’s confidence, improving their wellbeing and raising aspirations, so this award helps spotlight the impact we’re having.”

Associate Dean of Edge Hill’s Faculty of Education Dr Helen O’Keeffe said:

“Edge Hill are so proud to be partnered with this award-winning project. dot-art do amazing work bringing art to schools in the region and giving children the confidence to be creative. We’re very excited to work with them on this year’s competition which more than 100 primary and secondary schools have signed up to.”
